Adventure to Salalah & Exploring the Empty Quarter

Discover Oman’s treasures with BinMajid experts.

Overview

Salalah – Empty Quarter – Salalah

Salalah, located in southern Oman in the dramatically beautiful region of Dhofar, is synonymous with the frankincense trade. Here, you’ll uncover a land of incense-infused souqs, white-powder beaches, whitewashed forts, and dramatic mountain scenery. During the summer monsoon, this corner of the Middle East transforms into a verdant oasis, a stark contrast to the rest of Oman. Spend two nights exploring the areas to the north and south of Salalah, where you’ll discover ancient fishing villages, picture-perfect white sand beaches, historic forts, and tombs.

Next, venture inland for an adventure in the remote Empty Quarter. Explore the legendary lost city of Ubar, known as the Atlantis of the Sands. Spend a night under canvas as you traverse wild wadis, the mountain scenery of Jebel Qamar, and Wadi Aful, where frankincense trees grow wild. Return to Salalah for another two nights, visiting the stunning Mirbat Beach before heading home. This itinerary is flexible and can be customized or combined with our suggested itineraries focusing on the area around Muscat or Musandam.
