This adventure offers stunning vistas, rugged canyons, and cool high-altitude trails that wind through ancient villages and terraced farms. Known for its dramatic cliffs and mild climate, the region is perfect for both seasoned trekkers and enthusiastic hikers. Along the way, experience Omani culture firsthand as you pass through abandoned stone villages and witness traditional falaj irrigation systems.

Highlights include the scenic Wadi Bani Habib, Saiq Plateau, and panoramic viewpoints over deep gorges. With crisp mountain air and blooming damask roses in spring, Jabal Al-Akhdar is a refreshing escape from the desert heat. Guided treks range from half-day hikes to multi-day adventures with overnight camping. It’s a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and outdoor thrill in one of Oman’s most iconic landscapes.

ITINIRARY

The trek begins in Managher Village, located at an altitude of 2,100 meters in the Jabal Al-Akither Mountain. From there, we ascend to Qarn Wakan at 2,300 meters, before descending to Wakan Village, situated at 1,500 meters. Along the route, hikers will be treated to breathtaking views of Omani mountain farms and the scenic landscape surrounding Wakan Village. The total hike spans 8 kilometres and typically takes between 4 to 6 hours to complete. Following the invigorating trek, participants will have the opportunity to relax and unwind in Wakan Village, savouring traditional Omani coffee with locals and engaging in a shooting activity.
Night in Wakan

After a delightful traditional breakfast, the hike begins from Wakan Village, continuing towards Suwgra Village, located in the Jabal Al-Akither mountain range. The route offers stunning panoramic views of the Al-Hajer Mountains as we ascend from an altitude of 1,500 meters to 1,900 meters. This challenging hike spans approximately 10 kilometres and takes around 6 to 8 hours to complete.
The day concludes with an overnight stay in the charming Suwgra Village, offering a peaceful respite after the day’s adventure.

After a hearty breakfast, we prepare our backpacks and set off on the longest hike of the journey, departing from Suwgra Village towards Al-Alia Village. Along the way, we’ll pass through a stunning canyon, offering the opportunity to swim in one of the pristine blue pools nestled within the canyon. Continuing the hike, we’ll pass through Darr Village, one of the oldest and most remote villages in Oman, accessible only by foot, adding a sense of adventure and history to our journey. The trek covers a distance of 12 kilometres and takes approximately 6 to 8 hours to complete.
